A modern approach
It’s essential for us that our clients get personalised suggestions on who from our experienced team members is the best match. Rather than do things the typical way, we’ve created a system designed around our clients’ needs.
Specialism
We draw on a range of psychological models such as CBT, CFT, and systemic family therapy, and offer many different types of therapy, including family and couples therapy for people affected by cancer. We specialise in supporting individuals with the following:
Working throughout cancer treatment to optimise mental wellbeing
Preparing for and supporting individuals through cancer treatment including surgery
Assisting with complex cancer decision-making
Facilitating communication about mental wellbeing between the individual and their cancer medical team
Addressing anxiety related to cancer procedures (e.g., blood tests, surgery, chemotherapy)
Helping individuals cope with challenges resulting from cancer such as trauma, phobias, sleep disorders, fear of recurrence, psychosexual difficulties, changes in relationships, and health anxiety
Supporting individuals in emotionally processing past cancer experiences, even years after treatment completion
Providing specialised support for bereavement and existential fears within the context of cancer diagnosis and treatment
Why you should trust us?
We are trained to a Doctorate level in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) and are registered with the HCPC, with additional qualifications in delivering the latest evidence based therapies, demonstrating our expertise and qualifications in the field. We are experienced cancer psychologists who lead cancer psychology teams within the NHS and private care, and teach at various healthcare programs.
Our contributions extend beyond clinical practice. We actively participate in national guidance for cancer such as psychological care in prehabilitation. Noteworthy publications include our multicentre research in 2022, and novel findings in the area of esophageal cancer, further expanding our understanding of this complex condition. We also write articles addressing pertinent needs, helping to make psychological advice more accessible to individuals. Our latest article focuses on navigating intimacy with a stoma, providing support and guidance for those living with stoma.
Our commitment to improving cancer care is exemplified by the development of a groundbreaking psychological prehabilitation program for colorectal cancer patients. Highlighted in the publication ‘‘Multimodal prehabilitation service for patients with colorectal cancer: the challenges of implementation’’ this innovative approach demonstrates our dedication to pushing the boundaries of psychological support within comprehensive cancer treatment plans. Our efforts have been further supported by grants, such as the Cancer Alliance grant we received in 2020, specifically aimed at developing psychological prehabilitation for colorectal cancer.
But we don’t stop at written advice—we’re passionate about reaching people in ways that truly resonate. That’s why we created "Now What? Your Cancer Support Group" in audio form. For those undergoing surgical treatment, this podcast series is a game-changer—offering a chance to listen, connect, and find support wherever you are. Available on Spotify, Acast, and through various charity websites, it’s an easy way to tap into valuable advice, hear stories from others going through similar experiences, and discover comforting guidance during a tough time.
